Month: August 2021

Me – One word – In the WORD

ME – Acts 16:31   “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and though shalt be saved, and thy house.”

This is our shelf just outside our apartment door. I try to change it approximately once a month. This month of August is a very significant month for me since I was born on August 26, 1938. But even more important is the day that my sister Sue Opfer and I attended a Vacation Bible School hosted by the Bertrand Bible Church of Niles MI in a huge tent on the Indiana side of the MI -IN state line. We could see the tent from across the street on the west side. After attending a few days and hearing the truths of God’s Word we both responded to the invitation to receive Christ as our Saviour, 75 years ago. This makes August an important month in my life. This plaque which has our life verse on it, was given to me by Ken the day he gave me a diamond ring in 1955. Also the little lamp and Bible was sent to me from my brother Larry Shipley while in the Army, he was stationed in Germany, it would have been 1956 approximately…. The cross is one of many given to us by people in our former ministries.

One word – In the WORD

LAMB – JOHN 1:29, & 41

“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

“We have found the Messiah” (which is, being interpreted, “the Christ”).

I am sure by now our children and grandchildren know the reason I give a “lamb” to all the newborns.

The “Lamb of God” is the Messiah…. and not only that the Scriptures refer to Jesus as the Shepherd and he refers to us as sheep…

John 10:11

“I am the Good Shepherd; the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep.”

Our greatest desire in our lives is that all of our children and their children come to know personally the truths about the Lamb of God, the Shepherd and the sheep.

That is why as long as I am able, I will give a lamb and “The Story” of our wonderful Lord Jesus and how he gave His life on the cross for the sheep (the whole world).

I plead with the parents to read that story as early as they possibly can and continue until the truths of Jesus love is real to that child.

I also challenge others who know Christ to determine in their hearts to teach this TRUTH above going to places or giving worthless yet costly gifts that mask the truths of the Word of God.

This is a free gift but the greatest value of anything you can teach your family.

One word – In the WORD

PROMISE

Psalm 121:8

“The Lord shall preserve Thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.”

Who? Yes, The LORD holds the world in His Hand. He flings a handful of stars into the space and cause them to lodge in their proper places Yet, he loves us and is concerned with our most minute problem.

What? “God knows His own by name.” John 10:3

“He leadeth them” Psalm 23:2

“and He keeps them ” I Peter 1:5

Where? ” Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my

footsteps slip not. Psalm 17:5

When? “From this time forth.”

I know not the way I am going.

But well do I know my Guide!

With a childlike faith do I give my hand

To the mighty Friend by my side.

And the only thing that I say to Him

As He takes it, is

“Hold it fast!

Suffer me not to lose the way,

And lead me home at last.”

JUSTICE – One word – In the WORD

JUSTICE

Matthew 5:43-45 (NIV)

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

What a topsy-turvy world we live in! Those who live selfishly seem to prosper and be happy, while those who conscientiously live a Christian life — suffer. Does God care?

Do you think sometimes What’s the use? Do you dread facing another day?

God is still on the throne! He makes no mistakes!

Worldly prosperity is only for a season.

Galatians 6:7-9 KJV

7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
